Mariner of The Year

The Mariner of the Year award is designed to recognize and encourage safe enjoyable Marine activities. It is awarded to the member who organizes and participates in the most IYC sponsored Marine activities.

2022 Mariner of the Year

 
The Commodore’s Cup, established by the IYC’s chapter of the International Order of the Blue Gavel, is awarded to the member who contributes most to the recognition and encouragement of safe and enjoyable marine activities at IYC.
 

Credits earned by the following:

  • Participation in any IYC Marine event - 1 Credit
  • Organizing a 1 day marine event - 1 Credit
  • Organizing a 2 day marine event - 2 Credits
  • Organizing a 3 day marine event - 3 Credits
  • Organizing a 4 day marine event - 4 Credits
  • Providing a Volunteer Boat - 2 Credits
  • Above includes Committee, Spectator, Chase, Rescue, and Mark boats.
  • Crew on a Volunteer Boat - 1 Credit
  • Admirals Club or other educational Marine presentation - 2 Credits
  • Admirals Club Facilitator - 1 credit
  • Marine Committee Chairs - 2 Credits
  • To qualify as an event, must have a minimum of 3 boats total attending.
Members record their own credits earned on a Log sheet and submit the
credit sheet to the Fleet Captain by February 1.

Guidelines:

  • Points are earned close to the “Watch Year” - 3/01 to 2/28
  • Award Presentation at end of Watch Captain and Crew in February
  • Credit system can be changed, adjusted, or modified by the Fleet Captain
  • Fleet Captain is ineligible during his Watch year
